Greetings, humans!
Let me come right out with it. I didn’t write a new flash fiction piece with Kim for today.
This is what I was worried about when I planned this newsletter… that every now and then it wasn’t going to work out. (But please keep reading… because I have a little offer and there are still other books you should know about, a new podcast episode, etc.)
Does it make it any better if I tell you the reason was mostly because I got a nasty head cold last week that screwed up all my best laid plans?
Because — yup — that’s 90% of what it was. The other 10% was the fact that even before I got the headcold, I wasn’t really sure what the next story was going to be about. I kinda want the next one to be about a total solar eclipse, but I need to go experience that first.
Does it make it any better if I tell you I have stickers for you? Yes, you. For free. No matter where in the world you are!
All I need to make this happen is your mailing address: Request stickers at this link!
(Note that I will only use your mailing address to send you stickers. I will not be sharing or selling that information with anyone else and once this campaign is complete, I’ll be deleting those mailing addresses.)
Hopefully free stickers instead of free fiction for *one* newsletter is okay.
And… make sure you get your request in by April 18th, 2024! I will honor all sticker requests in by that date whether there are 10 or 100 of them!
These are not the only stickers that I now have available. I also have sticker bookplates! Did you acquire a paperback of one of my books that’s not signed? Do you want it signed? Get a bookplate!
The only place you can grab that bookplate from is my shopify store: https://crazyrobot.myshopify.com/products/signed-by-adeena-bookplate
What are these books I’m talking about? If you still don’t know, here are the universal links:
Robot Galaxy Series: https://geni.us/RobotGalaxySeries1-4 : Human meets robot in the most unpredictable ways in this cosmically comedic journey. Witness Ruby Palmer, an ordinary girl with an extraordinary knack for programming, as she navigates the perils and perks of a universe teeming with eccentric robots. Kidnapped by alien robots and brought to their artificial planet, Ruby's coding skills become her only hope and unexpected savior. Torn between her desire to return home and correcting the quirkiest of robotic glitches, she finds herself in a battle against time and comic disaster.
Or just start with Book 1 of the Robot Galaxy Series: Crazy Foolish Robots: https://geni.us/CrazyFoolishRobots
Lunar Logic: https://geni.us/LunarLogic: On the vacuum surface of the moon, life for Ai-dan and a cohort of moon-dwelling androids is anything but a lunar wasteland of boredom. They spend their days maintaining lunar data centers with a quaint blue-green, and sometimes whitish, orb hanging in the sky. Between playing games and spirited debates on the meaning of the shimmering orb, the robots' existence is near idyllic.
But when a malfunctioning system leads Ai-dan to stumble upon a mysterious box and then a soft-bodied android—total lunar oddities—the harmony of their world gets tossed into disarray. As they dig deeper into these enigmatic discoveries, Ai-dan and their friends must reboot their understanding of existence—risking a crash in their carefully crafted, pre-programmed worldviews.
Join Ai-dan, Ai-ko, Ai-mory and the rest as they toggle through an unusual adventure to uncover the hidden secrets of their life on the moon, and in the process, learn what it means to be and have free will. Will Ai-dan be able to integrate answers into their programming, or will their quest lead to yet another 'factory reset'? The fate of their lunar logic hangs in the balance!
We’re a few days away from the Total Solar Eclipse that many of us hope to spot here in the continental US. I’m doing my darndest not to check the weather report every hour because at the moment, it’s looking dicey.
Articles like this just get me more excited about it: https://mashable.com/article/solar-eclipse-2024-compared-to-2017
I remember the partial in 2017. I was home and it was overcast, which was a bummer.
…and there you have it for today Stickers, stickers, more stickers, and hopefully I’ll have an eclipse adventure to tell you about next time (along with the continuation of Kim’s adventures in a new flash fiction story!)
Us Indie authors like to tell our audiences about each other. If you generally like my stuff, it’s possible you’ll like some of theirs. Here are this weeks swaps:
That Star Trek cruise I was on last month? Well, we recorded a podcast episode while I was on the boat! Listen to the most recent episode of The BIG Sci-Fi Podcast to get the scoop. If you want to know what a themed cruise is like, this is the episode to listen to. New episodes of The BIG Sci-Fi Podcast come out every Friday!
Beyond…
There’s not a lot happening beyond today except for discussion of creativity… which is partly the lesson. Business owners get sick, too, and sometimes that means that they’re taking a break for a few days.
In upcoming newsletters, I still plan to cover things like:
My (on-going) experiences with Amazon and FB ads
Planning a Kickstarter
Audiobook production
Starting my direct store
Using Goodreads as an author
