Good characterizations. Of course the library is great! (But can you get a drink and books in a sim, as physical objects to read/drink?) And - makes you want to know what happened!
So... yes, you can get physical objects. While this series is not set in the Trek universe, there's obviously a lot of similarities and so this SimSpace is a lot like the Holodeck. ;)
My local library LOVES it when people come in and request books! LOVES IT!!!
I apologize all the time cause it feels like i'm the only one that does but they want me to! :P
We have interlibrary loan throughout the state library system, and there is a consortium of libraries in the state available through Libby. I also have about 5 other library cards from other states. Some purchased, some free.
Like Ensign Rowe, some of my earliest best memories are of our local library. The old building from my childhood is now an empty lot, but it lives on clear as a bell, scent and sound in my memory 55 years later. My Mom used to drop me off at the library starting when I was 5 or so and go on and do her shopping and then come back and pick me and my stack of books up. I remember a lady throwing a fit at our librarian Mary because there was a 5 book limit for children and I would check out 15 or more. Mary smartly silenced the woman by informing her that 'unlike her son' "I" would bring my books back on time and undamaged and that I had earned the ability to check out multiple books! I've known Mary my entire life and have always been great friends with my local library workers.
Love the fact that your building on Ensign Rowe's story and have made 'his' library an integral part of his backstory. I've pretty much created my own comfort library. I've got more books than many small town facilities, and am NOT looking forward to having to move them in the near future! : )
I was off work yesterday and dropped by the library around 2 o’clock and it was PACKED!!!
Which is sooo great to see in these times 🙃 every computer station in use. Lots of folk browsing. The children’s room full of kids and their Moms. (school district was having teachers conferences so no school) and the meeting room was having a
Reading your newsletter is always enjoyable, but today’s really hit me!
I loved the part where you gave us more information about Ensign Rowe Rivers based on your polls… but the actual story after that part… SEALED it! My WANT! My want to read his story!
I’m invested in Ensign Rowe Rivers now! I want more! I want to learn more about him. I loved reading it! It really sucked me in! Now, I guess I have to read the whole series!
I like this continuation. You've deepened Ensign Rowe's backstory and provided some insight into his thought processes. Ensign Zolani feels like she's been in the story since its inception and seems to be a motivational force in Rowe's life.
Side note: I've been to the site of the mission scenes in the Catch-22 movie, just outside of San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico. I was there teaching their work force to do my job, which was being outsourced to them. At least I got 2 years of unemployment and a free education out of it!
Side note to the side note: The runway has large piles of rocks on it to prevent the drug cartels from using it as a transfer point, and some of the camera dolly rails are still in place.
Side note to the side note to the side note: Many public libraries also have a program called InterLibrary Loan, or ILL, in which they can request books not in their collection from other libraries for patrons. As we are a smaller library, we use the program regularly!
I like where this is going. Love the banter.

Love these stories and especially love to hear that the librarian loves when people request books!!

Great to see in a medium sized town in a
deep red state. 🥴

No more side notes. Keep up the great work!
"Side note to the side note to the side note"... LOLOLOL love it!
Sounds promising.,. 📚📚📗
I usually don't like tiny stories, but this one works for me! Even without having read previous parts, the characters feel well fleshed out.
Thank you! Appreciate hearing that! :)
