Greetings, my fellow humans! And robots!
Today’s newsletter isn’t as long as normal. I’ll explain what’s been going on but first…
…a quick reminder about my books and stories that are available to purchase and read and write reviews about!

To ensure I keep writing more, especially in the Robot Galaxy Series, check out my for-real-it’s-really-forthcoming Kickstarter! Head over to the pre-launch page and hit that “Notify on launch” button right now so you’ll be notified the minute it launches!
…and make sure to read to the end of this newsletter and check out some other indie authors.
We last left off with part 3 of “Chasing Memories and Melodies.”
Since, I’ve been diligently spending my precious writing time on the sequel to Lunar Logic. Which is the normal pattern, but I’ll break when the idea for a flash piece inspires me.
Unfortunately, no such inspiration has hit for what happens next to Ensign Rowe Rivers in this story! Part of that is my own fault. I’ve really been trying to keep my writing brain focused on the Lunar Logic sequel. I’ve also had a few other distractions to my writing brain—like the fact that I’m also taking a law class and am writing a paper for that!
Another day we’ll talk about Space Law and all the exciting things I’ve been learning — that are informing my sequel to Lunar Logic. Enough so that I went down a rabbit hole of researching legal thrillers. Not that I want my book to be a “thriller” but I do need my lawyer antagonist and his cohort to be complex and multi-dimensional. And somehow, I want to make Space Law *interesting* and not dull legal-speak. Right now, in that draft, there’s a lot of sitting around in offices and such talking and pontificating. Boring. But I have to get through that I guess and then imbue it with action.
It’s all a process.
But my process here to finish out the shorts with Ensign Rowe Rivers, at least this adventure he’s on, is to turn to y’all and ask a couple questions. Remember this is what we did right after I introduced Ensign Rowe Rivers.
These polls will be open for three days after this newsletter comes out. That’s so I have enough time to write a piece for the next newsletter!
These questions are RANDOM. I have no idea where/what they’ll lead to! They’re also meant to be a little silly.
I don’t know where these are going to take me… but hopefully somewhere interesting. Thank you so much for the few clicks. Whatever comes out as the top answer to each will be added to the “canon,” but we’ll see if it shows up in the story!
So now, while I get to more writing, you please keep on reading… 👇👇👇
Please support other Indie Authors!
I routinely participate in newsletter swaps with other Indie Authors. This is one of the ways we help each other get the word our about our books. So please — check these folks out and see if they’re for you!

Season 8 of The BIG Sci-Fi podcast just kicked off with an interview with legendary writer and producer Ronald D. Moore. Not only was he deeply involved in several Star Trek series, he was the developer, writer, and executive producer for the re-do of Battlestar Galactica, Outlander, and most recently, For All Mankind.
Remember that we’re on all the major podcast platforms:

What’s next?
I really, really, really thought I’d be done with my Lunar Logic sequel by now. Instead, I’m only about 40% through the first draft. I did abandon the detailed outline for my minimalist outline which is helping.
I can’t wait to report back to y’all that this first draft is complete!
Now, time for a bonus picture that gives you a glimpse into how I’m treating life as a 50-year-old (I turned 50 last July)!
I got my first tattoo! If you ever run into me at a convention (and Balticon and Trek Long Island are both coming up at the end of May), ask me for the detailed explanation. The simple version is that this is a timeline of my first 50 years… the things that are really important/impactful to my life in the order that they started to have that impact on my life. This took me a LONG time to plan and figure out what I wanted and where and I’m incredibly happy with the result!
All always, thanks for reading all of my ramblings. Remember you can reply anytime with questions/comments/feedback!
Until next time… be kind, be well!

Have you read Delta-V by Daniel Suarez? It’s a near future novel on asteroid mining and setting up an economy in space. There’s long and interesting sections dealing with space law and one of the characters is a space lawyer. You might want to check out Delta-V and the sequel, Critical Mass to see how another author dealt with space law. Daniel Suarez is always deep into research so his handling of legal issues in space are bound to be accurate.
